Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is on-going after receiving First Communion. The children must continue to attend Faith Formation every year. Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation begins in the fall of 99th-grade for students enrolled in Catholic School and non-Catholic school students who have attended an approved religious education program with regular attendance for two years prior to the Sacrament. Classes will be held on Sunday mornings from 10:15-11:30 a.m. from September to November with the Confirmation Mass scheduled in November prior to Advent. In addition to regular catechetical classes, candidates are required to attend weekly Sunday Mass and attend a parish sponsored Confirmation retreat.
Families of youth preparing to celebrate a sacrament must be registered and active in the parish community. For the sacraments of Confirmation, the teen must have attended an approved religious education program with regular attendance for two years prior to the Sacrament (at least one year prior and instruction during the year of the sacrament). Instructions in Faith Formation grades 1-8 is a requirement of the Faith Formation Office and instruction in Faith Formation in grades 7 and 8 are mandated by the Diocese. The teen must also be baptized in the Catholic Church and the family must present a Baptismal certificate for the teen preparing for Confirmation. Children or teens who are not baptized or who have not attended a Faith Formation program since First Communion are welcome to prepare for the Sacrament through the Parish Rite of Christian Initiation for Children. Please contact Adrian Quintero in the parish office for information on this program.
There is a $60/per child registration fee for Confirmation preparation. This fee covers curriculum development and workshop materials.
